Arriving in Tel Aviv and Stepping onto the Holy Land is an exhilarating experience. An incredible sensation of spiritual awareness is felt as soon as you step off the plane. Upon your arrival, once you have cleared passport control, you will meet your guide, who will escort you to your touring vehicle. We will transfer to your hotel in Netanya, where dinner and overnight accommodations will be available.
Following breakfast, we will head North up the coastal plain to the former Roman capital of Judea, Caesarea (Acts 9.30 Acts 10 24-48). Here, we will visit the aqueduct, view archeological excavations, and marvel at the Roman amphitheater. Our next stop is Mount Carmel (Muhraka), where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal (1 King 18:20-40). Take a moment to enjoy the amazing view of the Jezreel Valley and lower Galilee. After lunch, we will continue to Tel Megiddo, the site scholars have identified as the Valley of the Armageddon. We will view Tel Megiddo's archaeological excavations and the old water supply system (1 Kings 4.28, 9, 15, 2 Kings 23, 29 & Revel. 16.16). Acre will be our last stop for the day (Micah 1.10). Acre is a city that has been inhabited for 1000s of years and is known for its deep-sea port and underground Crusader city. We will view a 2000-year-old wine press, experience the workings of an active 1st-century farm, and much more before returning for dinner and overnight accommodations at your hotel in Tiberias.
After breakfast, we begin our day by sailing across the Sea of Galilee in a boat modeled after those Jesus would have encountered when he ministered in northern Israel (Matt. 4.13 13.54, 17.24, Luke 7, Mark 1.2, John 4.46-54). Next, in Capernaum, we will visit the remains of an ancient, 2nd-century synagogue. Afterward, we will travel to Tabgha, where Jesus performed a great miracle by feeding 5,000 people with just two fish and five loaves of bread. While there, we will also visit the church of Multiplication with its’ ornate 4th-century mosaic floor (Matt. 13, Mark .33-45, & John 21). We continue our tour with a visit to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered his Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5, 6, 7, 8). Take in the breathtaking vistas of the Sea of Galilee as we drive by Beth Saida, the small hometown fishing village of Peter, Andrew, and Philip (John 1:44). We continue driving around the shores of the Sea of Galilee to Kursi, where the miracle of the swine took place. Afterward, we will stop to enjoy a St. Peter’s fish lunch. Our last site today is the Jordan River, where John the Baptist baptized Jesus, and Joshua made his miraculous crossing into the Holy Land. Here, at the modern site known as the “Yardenit’, we will renew our baptismal vows before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight accommodations in Galilee.
After breakfast, we begin our day by driving to Cana to visit the Wedding Church. This is where Jesus performed his first public miracle of turning water into wine (John 2.1-11). Next, we continue to visit the village of Magdalena, home of Mary of Magdalene, before heading south to the Nazareth Village, which dates back to the time of Jesus. Our journey continues to Beit Shean, also known as the Scythapolis, where Saul and Jonathan were nailed to the walls (1st Samuel 31.10, Judges 1.27). Next, we’ll walk down Via Delarosa, or “Way of Sorrow,” together, where Jesus carried his Cross. After lunch, we will continue to King David’s tomb and the Upper Room of the Last Supper (Acts 1:12.). We then visit the house of Caiaphas, also known as the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. We will view the area’s excavation tunnels and learn about the construction of the Temple 2000 years ago by King Herod. After visiting the Garden Tomb, we will head to Bethlehem to see The Church of Nativity, Shepherds’ Field, and the city’s alleys and markets. We will stop at the ancient Essene city of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947. Afterward, we continue along the coast of the Dead Sea to Masada. We will take a cable car up to the summit and walk around the ancient fortress that served as the last Jewish stronghold in their rebellion against the Romans following the destruction of their 2nd Temple. Next (weather permitting), we will take a swim (or float) in the waters of the Dead Sea. Besides floating in the Dead Sea, you can also cover yourself with the mineral-rich mud known to heal certain ailments.
